The Spartanburg County Foundation Hires Dr. Sheila Snoddy to Lead Community Partnerships and Civic Engagement

The Spartanburg County Foundation has hired Dr. Sheila Snoddy to oversee and implement the Foundation’s grantmaking program and expanding community leadership initiatives. Dr. Snoddy works alongside the Foundation’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of the Robert Hett Chapman III Center for Philanthropy,
Mary L. Thomas, in implementing the Foundation’s strategic programming, partnerships and initiatives.

Sheila’s extensive experience at the senior administration level, complement the leadership qualities needed to operationalize the measurable goals and work of this position. She has proven proficiency in strategic planning, organizational administration, fund development, results-oriented advocacy, partnership development and research, all sharpened by holding multiple executive roles in the military, non-profit as well as secondary and post-secondary education sectors.

“We are thrilled to have Sheila on the team,” said Mary L. Thomas. “She will help develop strategies for the Foundation’s community leadership activities and establish and maintain relationships with Spartanburg nonprofit organizations and donors.”

Sheila has done extensive work in the inter-faith community to strengthen relationships and develop partnerships with community-based entities to address complex issues in the areas of health and wellness, education, housing, teen pregnancy prevention, race relations and poverty.

Sheila’s previous professional experiences include: Director of Community Action for the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC), Regional Director for the Girl Scouts of South Carolina, Associate Dean at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina and Executive Director of the Academic and Career Achievement Partnership Consortium for a multi-entity, four-county service area in South Carolina. Additionally, as a veteran officer in the United States Army, acquiring the rank of Major, Sheila served in the Gulf War in Saudi Arabia.
