Community invited to attend live virtual event to see announcement of 2020 Mary L. Thomas Award for Civic Leadership and Community Change award winner
SPARTANBURG – The Spartanburg County Foundation will host its 2021 Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 23rd from 6:15 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. streamed LIVE from the Robert Hett Chapman III Center for Philanthropy on the campus of The Spartanburg County Foundation. This year’s theme, “Responding to the Call” sets the tone for an evening full of celebration, reflection, and honoring those who positively impact Spartanburg through philanthropy.
Despite the challenges of COVID restrictions, the Foundation is embracing an unexpected benefit. Celebrating the 2021 Annual Meeting as a high-quality live virtual event offers the opportunity to welcome a much larger audience than traditional venues can accommodate. This platform allows the Foundation to share the exciting work and progress that occurred in the past year with additional partners and members of our community this year.
The Annual Meeting program will begin with musical entertainment and will include a panel discussion with Foundation Trustees and staff who will discuss how the very structure of the Foundation enabled it to be nimble, adapt quickly, and respond to the calls of the Spartanburg community. A highlight of the evening is the presentation of the Mary L. Thomas Award for Civic Leadership and Community Change. This award honors an individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to improving the quality of life in Spartanburg County. The recipient is also someone who has developed innovative solutions to tackle critical community issues and seize opportunities to make a difference by offering compassionate leadership and commitment.
