Trustee

Following graduation from Converse College with a bachelor’s degree in 1979 and a master’s degree in 1981, Nancy Bain Coté served the Converse community as an Admissions Counselor and Assistant Director of Alumnae Affairs until becoming a parent.  Then, for several years she was an AFAA certified aerobics instructor and taught fitness classes at both the Spartanburg YMCA and the Spartanburg Athletic Club. Upon the arrival of her second child she left the professional world and has devoted her spare time to community service.

Nancy is a member of First Presbyterian Church where she has been a Sunday School teacher for children and adults.  She currently is a member of their Sanctuary Guild and a Bible Study small group leader.  She has served as president of the Converse College Alumnae Association, the Junior League of Spartanburg, the Spartanburg Day School Parents’ Club and The Thursday Study Club, a club whose members write term papers for enrichment and entertainment.  Additionally, she has had the pleasure to sit on the Parents Council at Furman University and the University of the South, Sewanee as well as the Board of Visitors and Board of Trustees (ex-officio) of Converse College and the Board of Trustees (ex-officio) of the Spartanburg Day School.  Nancy currently serves on the boards of the Charles Lea Center Foundation and Mobile Meals of Spartanburg and has been a Mobile Meals volunteer driver for over 25 years.   She is a member of Women Giving for Spartanburg, a sustaining member of the Junior League of Spartanburg, and a graduate of Leadership Spartanburg.  Over the years she has served on and chaired various committees for the organizations above as well as  Hatcher Garden and The Spartanburg Philharmonic.

Nancy and her husband, Paul, reside in Spartanburg.  They have two children, Anna Coté Hall (Aaron) and Abby Coté, and two adorable grandchildren.
