INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Spartanburg County Foundation seeks highly motivated and qualified students to gain real-world work experience and to learn the inner-workings of a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Spartanburg County residents. The goal of the internship program is to provide training and experience related to a student’s academic course of study and career goals.

The Foundation offers part-time paid internships in the areas of finance and accounting, communications, special initiatives, and administrative support based upon organizational need. Please review the full job description(s) for open positions before filling out our application form.

SCF Internship Positions are currently filled. At present, only Women Giving for Spartanburg is seeking an intern. 

Position Overview:

This assistant/intern will assist with marketing materials, promotional mailings, email lists, eblasts, etc.; event logistics and setup; assist with data entry of scholarship recipients, mailings, document scanning and maintenance of the Foundation’s digital files. The assistant/intern will gain knowledge about the work of a community foundation and see  communications projects in process. The assistant/intern will learn more about the scholarship programs that the Foundation offers to high school students and learn more about the career options at a community foundation.  See Full Position Description.

The Women Giving for Spartanburg (WGFS) intern is responsible for providing support to the WGFS’s program liaison in the areas of marketing and events, grantmaking, and the overall administrative work of WGFS. The WGFS Intern works under the overall direction of WGFS’s Program Director, but may collaborate with other members of WGFS. WGFS will endeavor to provide the WGFS Intern with meaningful assignments that contribute to an overall understanding of the profession (philanthropy) and readiness for post-graduate employment.  Click Here for a full description.

The communications intern is responsible for providing support for internal and external communications efforts. The communications intern works under the overall direction of the communications officer but may collaborate with other members of the Foundation to develop communication tools and disseminate information about programs and activities. The Foundation will endeavor to provide the communications intern with meaningful assignments that contribute to an overall understanding of the profession and readiness for post-graduate employment. The accounting intern is responsible for providing support to the director of finance. This individual will work directly with the director of finance to assist in providing auditing support, monthly and annual reconciliations, financial statements, investment performance reports, and special projects while providing documentation to fund holders in a timely manner. In addition, this individual will obtain a well-rounded experience in all facets of fund accounting in a nonprofit environment. Click Here for a full description.

The special initiatives intern is responsible for providing support for grantmaking, initiatives, and community leadership work. The special initiatives intern works under the direction of the director of grants and initiatives but may collaborate with other members of the Foundation on various tasks and projects as time allows. The Foundation will endeavor to provide the special initiatives intern with meaningful assignments that contribute to an overall understanding of the profession and readiness for post-graduate employment. The administrative support intern is responsible for providing administrative support to the Foundation. The administrative support intern works under the direction of the designated administrative staff but may collaborate with all staff to handle the reception area, research, archiving files, filing, and general administrative support.
