VIRTUAL DONOR CONNECT – COVID-19 Grantmaking Strategy & Research

May 20, 2020 at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Learn more about The Spartanburg County Foundation’s grantmaking strategy in response to COVID-19’s impact on our local nonprofit sector.

The rapid spread of COVID-19 has created a new normal globally, nationally, at the state-level, and in the community of Spartanburg County. Our community is faced with new challenges, such as social distancing, employee layoffs, and greater need for assistance.

As a community foundation that seeks to improve the lives of Spartanburg County residents, staff has and is currently monitoring the nonprofit response to this crisis. In order to understand nonprofit needs and concerns, Foundation staff conducted research and hosted calls with Spartanburg nonprofit leaders. In collaboration with local nonprofit leaders, Foundation staff explored COVID-19’s impact on nonprofit operations, immediate nonprofit needs, the populations most impacted, and concerns about the sustainability of the nonprofit sector.

During this virtual donor connect, The Spartanburg County Foundation team will present the Foundation’s short-term and long-term grantmaking strategy in response to COVID-19’s impact on our local nonprofit sector.

The purpose of The Spartanburg County Foundation’s Donor Connect program is to ensure that fundholders are provided with the resources needed to meet philanthropic goals. This program serves as a catalyst for education, connecting resources, and stewardship.
