Event: Refining Your Personal Mission Statement Speaker: Dr. Melissa Walker, Founder, Heyday Coaching, LLC Location: Thomas E. Hannah YMCA (151 Ribault Street, Spartanburg) Session Description: At some point in your life, you’ve probably given a lot of thought to what your personal mission statement is. You’ve set goals. You’ve held tight to your values. Then one day, you wake up and realize that life has become a repetitious pattern. Sure, you are doing great things in the community, but something is missing. Maybe it’s time to reflect back on your personal mission statement and re-evaluate your goals and values. This session will allow you that time of reflection, to recraft your life mission statement, and to evaluate what’s really important to you.

GLAA – Tailgating at the Spartanburg Crit

Event: Tailgating at the Spartanburg Crit Location: Downtown Spartanburg (Tent M2) Session Description: Join us for a time of networking and fun at the annual Spartanburg Crit, a closed-circuit, multi-lap cycling race through Downtown Spartanburg that is hosted as part of Spartanburg’s Spring Fling weekend. Reconnect with other GLDI alumni, meet this year’s class, and connect with the community as you watch cyclists race around the half-mile downtown course. The Grassroots Leadership Alumni Association will have a special tent set up along the course, so drop in and say hello. The Crit consists of 6 races – four amateur and two professional, with the first race starting at 4 PM.

GLAA – An Evening of Thanks and Giving

Event: An Evening of Thanks and Giving Location: Monarch Café - The Butterfly Foundation (498 Howard Street, Spartanburg) Session Description: Before the hustle and bustle of the holidays, take some time to connect with fellow Alumni for a time of Thanks and Giving. The Grassroots Leadership Alumni Association is partnering with the Marcus Lattimore Foundation, Northside Voyagers, and The Butterfly Foundation to provide meals to families living in the City of Spartanburg’s Northside Community who may not otherwise have a Thanksgiving dinner. Each family will receive a Thanksgiving box that includes a turkey, canned goods, and a homemade dessert! Contribute to the cause by bringing 2-3 canned goods with you. You won’t want to miss this evening of networking, food, cooking demos, giveaways, and more at Monarch Café! Additionally, there will be a sign up for those interested in helping to deliver the boxes the week of Thanksgiving!
