Event: Refining Your Personal Mission Statement Speaker: Dr. Melissa Walker, Founder, Heyday Coaching, LLC Location: Thomas E. Hannah YMCA (151 Ribault Street, Spartanburg) Session Description: At some point in your life, you’ve probably given a lot of thought to what your personal mission statement is. You’ve set goals. You’ve held tight to your values. Then one day, you wake up and realize that life has become a repetitious pattern. Sure, you are doing great things in the community, but something is missing. Maybe it’s time to reflect back on your personal mission statement and re-evaluate your goals and values. This session will allow you that time of reflection, to recraft your life mission statement, and to evaluate what’s really important to you.

Event: Tailgating at the Spartanburg Crit Location: Downtown Spartanburg (Tent M2) Session Description: Join us for a time of networking and fun at the annual Spartanburg Crit, a closed-circuit, multi-lap cycling race through Downtown Spartanburg that is hosted as part of Spartanburg’s Spring Fling weekend. Reconnect with other GLDI alumni, meet this year’s class, and connect with the community as you watch cyclists race around the half-mile downtown course. The Grassroots Leadership Alumni Association will have a special tent set up along the course, so drop in and say hello. The Crit consists of 6 races – four amateur and two professional, with the first race starting at 4 PM.

Event: Mastering the Art of Public Speaking Speaker: Scott Cochran, President, Spartanburg Methodist College Location: SMC Studio, Aug W. Smith Building (174 E. Main Street, Spartanburg) Session Description: Public speaking is the number one fear of most of Americans, but it doesn’t have to be yours. Whether you are used to speaking in front of groups or it’s something that you rarely do, you will walk away with valuable tips and tools to increase your public speaking game and calm your nerves so that the next time you are asked to speak you can say yes with confidence.

Event: Grassroots Leadership Development Institute Graduation and Net Night Location: Spartanburg Marriott (299 N. Church Street, Spartanburg) Session Description: Come celebrate the newest graduates of GLDI – our largest class yet! Following the graduation ceremony, we will have a special time of networking. Be the first to welcome these graduates into the Alumni Association as well as take an opportunity to network with other Alumni.
