Spreading the Word
Fundholders are encouraged to let others know about their fund and invite individuals to contribute to their fund. Some fundholders send letters or emails when they open a fund, annually, or on special events related to the fundholder and their interest(s). The Foundation provide a letter template to help you with this effort.
The Foundation provides a letter template to help you with this effort. The Spartanburg County Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. One benefit of having a fund at the Foundation is that component funds may use the Foundation’s nonprofit status to provide tax receipts letters for donors to your fund. Foundation staff manages generating and emailing/mailing these letters for you.
Some fundholders wish to hold fundraising events to grow their fund, raise awareness, and engage the community in their fund purpose.
Fundraising Events
The Spartanburg County Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. One benefit of having a fund at the Foundation is that component funds may use the Foundation’s nonprofit status to provide tax receipts letters for donors to your fund. Foundation staff manages generating and emailing/mailing these letters for you. The IRS regulations related to fundraising for any component funds held by the Foundation. Fundholders must follow these regulations to protect the Foundation’s 501(c)(3) public charity tax status.
All new fundholders are given a copy of the Fundraising Policy. Individuals involved in planning a fundraising event for a fund may not have received this information. It is important for all involved in planning any fundraising event to review the policy and FAQs.
