Partnerships

The Spartanburg County Foundation embraces and values the importance of building strong partnerships to effectively lead in addressing Spartanburg County’s critical indicators. We work closely across sectors with residents, nonprofits, community leaders, businesses, philanthropic leaders, and local governments, each bringing their own unique strengths to the table, which results in scaled initiatives with amplified progress and an increased impact.

Strategic Spartanburg

Strategic Spartanburg developed out of the Community Indictors Project launched by the Spartanburg County Foundation in 1987. In 2023, Strategic Spartanburg received its own 501c3 designation and is operating as an independent organization.

Spartanburg Academic Movement

An all-in partnership of schools and colleges, businesses, governments, foundations, faith communities, and individuals across Spartanburg County in pursuit of high levels of educational achievement.

Spartanburg Joint Funders

Six organizations, including the Spartanburg County Foundation, Mary Black Foundation, Spartanburg Regional Foundation, United Way of the Piedmont, Spartanburg Academic Movement, and the Chapman Cultural Center, make up the Spartanburg Joint Funders, a group committed to intentional collaboration and coordination. Each member is an individual nonprofit organization with a unique mission doing impressive, impactful work across our community. We often find issues common across all our focus areas. Together, we can learn more about the issues, develop strategies to address them, and sometimes even co-fund solutions. By aligning our knowledge and resources around a shared community issue, we can achieve more powerful collective impact. We collaborate with nonprofit partners, grassroots community members, government institutions, the business sector, and other funders to advance health, civic engagement, community vibrancy, and economic prosperity for all.
