Center for Philanthropy

Yes! The Center for Philanthropy is open to the public on weekdays from 8:30AM – 5:00PM. The Center’s doors remain locked for security and visitors need to ring the bell at the front door (facing Kennedy Street) for admission. Visitors sign in at the front desk.

The Gallery of Philanthropy features interactive digital exhibits throughout the year and are free to the public. Specific exhibits are promoted on the Foundation’s social media and may or may not be accessible depending upon use of the Gallery of Philanthropy for special events. If you are interested in a particular exhibit or a tour of the Center, it is best to call in advance, 864-582-0138.

Meeting/Study/Research space may be available in the Center without advance reservation, but cannot be guaranteed. It is best to call to check availability before arriving at the Center. 864-582-0138

All Spartanburg county-based 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), 501(c)(6) nonprofit and faith-based organizations and community groups which further the work of the Spartanburg County Foundation (SCF) will receive priority access to request space at The Spartanburg County Foundation and The Robert Hett Chapman III Center for Philanthropy (CFP). Qualifying organizations must provide evidence of status. Qualifying nonprofit and faith-based organizations may reserve space in designated rooms within the CFP during regular business hours for a period of up to three consecutive hours free-of-charge up to four times in a calendar year. A discounted fee will be assessed for meetings longer than 3 hours or any additional meetings during regular business hours, and for all meetings after-hours.

For-profit business and corporate groups are eligible to request meeting space for a fee.

Reservations are on a first-come first-served basis with priority assigned to nonprofit organizations serving Spartanburg County residents. Reservations should be made as soon as possible once you have determined the date/time of your meeting. A reservation form must be submitted for each meeting request. If there is a meeting already scheduled on the day/time you select, an SCF staff member will reach out to you to select another day/time.

We do not offer bookings for personal private parties at the Center for Philanthropy.  The Center is not operating or staffed as an events center.

There are two ways you can help support the Center for Philanthropy.

• First, help us spread the word about the availability of space within the Center for meetings and community events.
• Secondly, you may help support the Center with your gift to fund #2149, the Center for Philanthropy Capital fund.

We are open after hours for a fee.

Availability for after hours is not guaranteed but may be requested for meetings held on weekdays between 5:00pm -9:00pm. A two hour minimum is required. An additional fee for Security will be charged for after-hours events.

Reservations must be a minimum of 2 weeks prior to and no more than six months in advance.
