Disaster Relief
The Spartanburg County Disaster Relief Fund provides grants to nonprofit organizations providing direct assistance to residents for relief, recovery, and rebuilding due to natural or man-made disasters.
From October 2024 – July 2025, the fund provided over $545,000 through 52 grants to 32 nonprofit organizations serving Spartanburg County residents impacted by Hurricane Helene that devasted our community in September, 2024.
Below are organizations that received a grant from the Foundation to assist their work to help Spartanburg County residents in the immediate and short-term recovery from the impact of Hurricane Helene.

The Spartanburg County Foundation was grateful to receive additional funding for local disaster relief and recovery from AARP Foundation to help meet the needs of older Spartanburg County residents. The following organizations received grants from this additional resource:









Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve exists to provide a place where the public can come for inspiration, enjoyment, and education through the study of nature.


The Middle Tyger Community Center offers Middle Tyger Community Center offers holistic resources and integrated support services to empower individuals and families to break the cycle of generational poverty and move toward stability. It has been serving the Middle Tyger Community in Spartanburg County (Duncan, Lyman, Wellford and surrounding areas) with a wide ranges of services for more than 25 years. Services include: comprehensive navigation and support for kinship caregivers; GED and adult literacy classes; sliding-scale individual and family counseling services; crisis-relief and emergency food and utility assistance; senior services; and high-quality early child care and education services; and various other resources for individuals, families, and children.



Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas In Action) is an organization that provides essential repairs to help community members stay in their homes, revitalize communities and address long-term recovery within communities struck by natural disasters.

The Spartanburg County Historical Association works to preserve and promote the rich history of Spartanburg County through education, community involvement, and sustainability.


This grant supports funding for the Spartanburg Long Term Recovery Group short-term case manager position. The case manager is working directly with homeowners in the county that have responded to the Spartanburg County Emergency Management’s outreach efforts to meet ongoing home repair and debris removal needs. The United way of the Piedmont is managing the case management position.
