Disaster Relief – Emergency Food Response
Our Response to the October/November 2025 Food Crisis
- The Spartanburg County Foundation worked quickly to respond to the community food crisis that occurred as a result of SNAP benefits being suspended on November 1, 2025.
- The Foundation team worked closely with the Spartanburg Joint Funders and nonprofit organizations to ensure that children and families across our community had food.
- In October and November, the Foundation quickly deployed nearly $80,000 to organizations providing food to residents across Spartanburg County through Disaster Relief Fund grants and Just Because grants.
- The Spartanburg County Foundation joined the Chapman Cultural Center, United Way of the Piedmont, Mary Black Foundation, and Spartanburg Regional Foundation in sharing the $40,000 cost to secure and distribute 24 pallets of Second Harvest food boxes.
- The Foundation continues to work with local leaders, funders, and nonprofit organizations to find long-term solutions to food insecurity across our community.
With SNAP benefits now restored, the Foundation has closed the application for rapid-response grants.
