In 2025, the Spartanburg County Foundation team embraced fresh opportunities to connect with our community and share the story of the Spartanburg Community Fund. While we have long supported local events and organizations, this year we met more community members where they were and helped them understand how the Fund fuels positive change across Spartanburg County.

Launching the Awareness Campaign

Our efforts began early in the year with the launch of a countywide awareness campaign in March. Downtown Spartanburg’s main streets came alive with vibrant banners featuring custom illustrations by local artist Jason Craft. His designs captured the essence of Spartanburg—from our bustling downtown and serene natural spaces to landmarks honoring the heritage of smaller communities. The message was clear: the Spartanburg Community Fund belongs to everyone.

The Fund and its new branding were prominently featured at our 2025 Annual Meeting, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone for community progress.

Engaging Through Community Events

One of the year’s highlights was partnering with the Spartanburgers for a nonprofit showcase night—a true home run for community engagement! Our President and CEO, Troy Hanna, along with Foundation Trustees and staff, greeted fans, shared information, and handed out Spartanburg Community Fund swag bags. Troy even threw the ceremonial first pitch, creating a memorable moment that underscored our commitment to connecting in meaningful ways.

Spreading the Word

Billboards, print ads, and digital campaigns extended our reach across the county, encouraging residents to join us in strengthening the Fund. Community members stepped up to expand the campaign, understanding that the larger the Spartanburg Community Fund grows, the more resources we can invest back into local programs and services. Their generosity funded a stunning mural on the Center for Philanthropy, a lasting tribute to the Fund’s impact—past, present, and future.

A Legacy of Impact

For more than 80 years, the Spartanburg Community Fund has supported the people and places that make our county special. From scenic trails like Hatcher Garden, Croft State Park, and the Cottonwood Trail, to essential services such as food pantries, shelters, and support agencies—the Fund has been there, fueling progress and hope.

Celebrating Community

Our campaign continued at beloved local events, including the Spartanburg International Festival and A Dickens of a Christmas. These gatherings gave us the chance to share our mission and work, distribute campaign reminders—from t-shirts and tote bags to baseball-themed lip balm—and make new connections. We were especially moved by the spirit behind A Dickens of a Gift, which reminded us why Spartanburg is such a vibrant and caring community.
